Shreveport – The Centenary volleyball team lost a pair of non-conference matches on Saturday on the final day of the "Cajun Country Classic" as the Ladies fell 3-0 to Howard Payne University and 3-0 to Millsaps College at the Gold Dome.
The Ladies (0-3) dropped their season opener on Friday by a score of 3-0 to the Louisiana Christian University Wildcats on day one of the event. Millsaps (2-1) edged LCU 3-2 in the middle match on Saturday. Howard Payne went 3-0 during the weekend while LCU finished 1-2.

Howard Payne won the first set, 25-16, and then took set two by a score of 25-14 and closed out the sweep with a 25-19 score in the third set. The Ladies finished with 37 digs, 22 assists, 22 kills, and five aces while the Yellow Jackets tallied 44 digs, 41 kills, 36 assists, 11 aces, and one solo block.

Sophomore MB Reign McArthur (Midlothian, Texas) added a kill and freshman OH Laijah Rockward (Houma, La.) had a pair of kills. Senior MB/OH Elizabeth Canady (League City, Texas) had two kills and a dig, senior OH Jaylin St. Martin (New Orleans, La.) tallied five digs and sophomore OH Mackenzie Haley (Orange, Texas) had three kills and two digs, and sophomore MB Bailee Henderson (Monroe, La.) posted six kills.

Millsaps won the first set by a score of 25-14, took set two 25-20, and clinched the match with a 25-13 score in set three.
The Ladies finished with 43 digs, 23 kills, 22 assists, five aces, and four solo blocks while the Majors recorded 53 digs, 38 kills, 28 assists, eight aces, and three solo blocks.

Freshmen OH Jacie Bagley (Carthage, Texas) had two kills and a dig, Rockward and Molina each had a pair of kills, and Hinze added eight digs to go with her team-high 21 assists. Barnett had an impressive match with five digs and four kills and Gatlin's 11 digs were second to only Wedding's 13 and Gatlin also had five kills and an ace. Canady had a solo block, a dig and a kill.
The Ladies will hit the road on Tuesday to face the Grambling State University Tigers in a non-conference road match set for 6 p.m. inside the Fredrick C. Hobdy Center. The two teams met on Aug. 27 in an exhibition in Grambling in which the Tigers won 3-0.
