Ladies Notch First Win Of Season With Sweep Over Wiley
The Centenary volleyball team recorded a 3-0 sweep over the Wiley University Wildcats in a non-conference match on Tuesday evening inside a spirited Gold Dome.
Shreveport - The Centenary volleyball team recorded a 3-0 sweep over the Wiley University Wildcats in a non-conference match on Tuesday evening inside a spirited Gold Dome.
The Ladies (1-10) won for the first time this season as first-year head coach Kayla Black recorded her first win with the Ladies. The Wildcats fell to 0-8 with the loss. Centenary has now won three-straight matches against Wiley with all three being sweeps. Centenary was back on its home court for the first time since Aug. 30-31 when it hosted the "Cajun Country Classic" and is now 1-3 this season at the Gold Dome.
Centenary won the first set, 25-20, took set two 25-22, and closed out the match with a 25-16 win in set three. The Ladies posted their top offensive effort of the season as they tallied season highs in assists (30), service aces (14), digs (60), and tied their season high in kills (34).
Wiley finished the match with 55 digs, 35 kills, 30 assists, and seven aces. The Wildcats' best offensive set was the third when they finished with 13 kills and just four errors in 32 total attacks for a .281 percentage.
The Ladies' top offensive set was also the third as they finished with a .353 attack % that featured 15 kills and only three errors in 34 total attacks. Centenary finished with a season-best overall hitting % of .204 and a season-high 50.0 points.

Aces: Sophomore MB Reign McArthur (Midlothian, Texas) – 4
Assists: Junior S Kristi Hinze (Shepherd, Texas) – 17
Digs: Junior LB Daly Nagot (Benton, La.) – 15
Kills: Freshman OH Aaliyah Barnett (Dickinson, Texas) - 9
McArthur's four aces a single-match season and career best, Barnett's nine kills are a season high, and Nagot tied her season high in digs with 15 which she has done in consecutive matches.
The Ladies will remain at home to face the Austin College 'Roos (9-6, 2-0 SCAC) in their first conference match at home this season on Saturday at Noon in the Gold Dome. Centenary is 0-2 so far in conference play with losses on the road last weekend against the University of Dallas and McMurry University.
