Volleyball Selected as "Team of the Week"
Shreveport – The Centenary volleyball team has been selected as Centenary Athletics' "Team of the Week" after the Ladies picked up their first win of the season last Tuesday as they recorded a 3-0 sweep over the Wiley University Wildcats in a non-conference match at home.
Shreveport – The Centenary volleyball team has been selected as Centenary Athletics' "Team of the Week" after the Ladies picked up their first win of the season last Tuesday as they recorded a 3-0 sweep over the Wiley University Wildcats in a non-conference match at home.
The victory gave head coach Kayla Black recorded her first win with the Ladies as they won the first set, 25-20, took set two 25-22, and closed out the match with a 25-16 win in set three over the Wildcats. The Ladies posted their top offensive effort of the season as they tallied season highs in assists (30), service aces (14), digs (60), and tied their season high in kills (34).
The Ladies' top offensive set was also the third as they finished with a .353 attack % that featured 15 kills and only three errors in 34 total attacks. Centenary finished with a season-best overall hitting % of .204 and a season-high 50.0 points.
The Ladies, who fell at home to Austin College on Saturday at the Gold Dome, remain at home for three conference matches this weekend as they will face Colorado College on Saturday, Oct. 5 at Noon and then the University of St. Thomas on Sunday for a doubleheader scheduled for Noon and 2:30 p.m.
