Austin Fifth in First Competition on Beam, Ladies Fall to Kent State

KENT, Ohio - Sophomore Cami Bea Austin turned in the best performance on the afternoon for the Ladies on beam, her first time competing on the event, but Centenary gymnastics (0-1) fell to Kent State (1-0) 195.050-178 Sunday afternoon, January 14, in the season opener for both teams.

On beam, Austin received a 9.600 from one judge and a 9.400 from the other to finish with a 9.500 average to finish fifth. Also in her first competition in her collegiate career in the all-around, she finished second with a score of 35.800.

Rachel Stypinski led the Golden Flashes with wins on bars (9.900), beam (9.875), and floor (9.900) to capture the all-around with a 39.375 total.

Centenary returns to action Friday, January 19, when it takes on Lindenwood. First rotation in St. Charles, Missouri, is set for 7 p.m.
