Navia Jordan and Tavia Smith Provides Gym Talk in Preparation for USAG Collegiate Nationals

We've been busy the last few weeks, so here are our most recent gym talks to catch you up!

Hey there Centenary gym fans!

Junior Navi J here to give you this week's gym talk! Spring break had finally come and many of the Ladies returned home to spend the Easter holiday with family and friends. Here are some of the awesome activities we got to participate in: Freshman Dorothy Mims got to see her beloved cats, sophomore Evelyn Harris did pilates with her mom (and also came back to school with a fresh new doo), sophomore Delia Ardoin went and climbed some rocks back in Baton Rouge, and sophomore Kendall Arasmith worked on her summer tan at the beach down in Florida - and even got picked up by the coast guard. Boy, did the ladies have a blast this past week spending some much needed down time in all types of fun ways!

Although many of us got to go home, the national qualifiers (Ashley White, Tavia Smith, Cami Bea Austin, Si-Si Ponder, and me) stayed behind to get ready for the biggest meet of our season. We really got to hunker down and focus on our specialized events even more than before, so we can compete to the best of our abilities at USAG Collegiate Nationals on the April 13! After a week of hard training, the Ladies got to take a couple days off for Easter to rest and spend time with family and friends. All in all, it was a great, fun-filled week for the Ladies! Chat with you next time!

What it do Centenary Gymnastics fans!

It's your favorite junior here with our most recent gym talk. (that would be Tavia Smith in case you happened to forget for a moment). It's Natty's week y'all! I'm so excited to get to compete back in my home state of Texas this weekend and get to see all my family and friends in the stands! Your Ladies have gotten back to work in the gym and classroom this week after a much needed spring break. Here's a quick update on what we've been up to within the last 7 days…

KTAL news came into the gym last Wednesday to do a story on senior Ashley White before her final competition as a Lady. I don't know if you'd call it showing out for the camera but… we had a really good practice with great landings on all events. It was nice to have our friends in the gym flipping with us. Shout out to junior Natalie Scates and freshman Jenny Jackson for doing beautiful blind fulls! Go Kenny with the Delchev game!

But the good times didn't last long because we nearly died in a massive thunderstorm featuring hail and a tornado on Friday. Always practice storm safety Ladies and Gents. It's always good to be prepared. (PS, I might be being slightly dramatic but there were two power outages) It's okay because we got to celebrate Centenary Days before the storm broke out by attending the annual Chillin' and Grillin' on campus. Nothing like a little free food when the budget is tight.

The seniors wrapped up their last practice at Jill's Gymnastics on Tuesday, April 10. Thanks so much Ash and KD for your 4 years of dedication to Centenary Gymnastics! We are really going to miss you!

Shout out to my fellow national's qualifiers for continuing to push to get better each and every day in the gym. It's almost go time Ladies! Come out to the final competition weekend of the 2018 season to see Cami Bea, Ashley, Navia, Si-Si, and myself represent your Ladies strong! I better see y'all at Texas Women's University on Friday, April 13, 2018. First flips begin at 7 p.m. There will be free streaming of the meet, so if you can't make it please watch us online!
