Ladies Tally two Personal Bests, Win on Bars, in Gymnastics Meet with Alaska-Anchorage

SHREVEPORT, La. - The Ladies claimed two personal bests and an event win on bars, but it was not enough as Centenary fell to Alaska-Anchorage in gymnastics Friday night, February 9, 188.500-187.700.

With Centenary trailing by two-tenths heading into the final rotation, the Seawolves recorded a 47.400 on beam, while the Ladies turned in a 46.800 on floor, for the final margin. However, Centenary received a 46.125 on bars, compared to 46.050 for Alaska-Anchorage, for the event win.

The Ladies received their second-best vault score of the season, finishing with a 47.350 team score. After receiving a 9.600 multiple times for her career, junior Aspen Hattley broke through with a career-best 9.625 to finish third on the apparatus. Freshman Jenny Jackson upped her career best on vault for the second meet in a row, receiving a 9.450.

Jackson also matched a career-best on bars, finishing fifth with a 9.275.

Junior Navia Jordan claimed an event win on floor for the second meet in a row for the Ladies, receiving a 9.675 - 0.050 ahead of her nearest competitor. Classmate Tavia Smith finished third in the all-around with a 37.500 total.

Mackenzie Miller paced Alaska-Anchorage with a win on bars (9.675) and in the all-around (38.200).

Centenary closes out the weekend against the Seawolves on Sunday, February 11. First rotation in the Gold Dome is slated for 2 p.m.
