Ladies Gymnastics Overcomes Tough Start to Win on Beam and Floor, Falls to SEMO

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - After a pair of 46's on both vault and bars, the Ladies outscored the Redhawks on the final two rotations as Centenary fell to Southeast Missouri State 191.950-189.125 Friday night, March 9.

Centenary bested SEMO on beam, 47.600-47.450. Junior Navia Jordan took the title by .050, receiving a 9.775. Senior Ashley White finished third with a score of 9.650.

On floor, the Ladies received a 48+ for the fifth straight meet, beating out the hosts 48.525-48.300. While sophomore Cami Bea Austin and senior Ashley White finished third and fourth with a 9.775 and 9.725, respectively, it was the freshmen who added depth to round out the floor scoring. Sierra Ponder, Jenny Jackson, and Jerrica Harris all tied for sixth with a 9.675 - a career best for both Jackson and Harris.

Harris also turned in a career best on beam with a 9.575.

Austin took the all-around title with a 37.200 total. Besides her third on floor, she finished third on vault with a 9.550.

Centenary will conclude the regular season next Saturday at the Bridgeport Quad in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Besides the hosts, the Ladies take on Brown and Yale. First rotation is set for 5:30 p.m. (6:30 p.m. EDT).
