DENTON, Texas - At their quad on Sunday, February 25, the Ladies gymnastics team started and ended the day on a high in totaling a season-best score.

Starting the meet on floor, Centenary recorded a season-best (by .325) with a 48.650 - beating Southeast Missouri State on the event for the second time this weekend. After a near miss of a season-best on vault by .025 (47.775) and a 46.975 total on bars, the Maroon and White completed the weekend strong with a season high of 48.425 on beam, finishing second on the apparatus ahead of Bridgeport and host Texas Woman's.

Centenary finished with a 191+ for the second competition in a row and completed the day fourth (191.8255) behind Texas Woman's (194.675), Bridgeport (194.275), and Southeast Missouri State (193.825) in the Ladies first road meet in more than a month.

On floor, junior Tavia Smith set the tone early for the Ladies by matching a season best with a 9.600. The scores only went up from there. The next two gymnasts on the event, freshman Jenny Jackson and Sierra Ponder, both recorded career highs with a 9.650 and a 9.725, respectively. After senior Ashley White recorded a 9.725, sophomore Cami Bea Austin scored a season best 9.700 for the second meet in a row. Navia Jordan ended the rotation for the Ladies with a season best 9.850 to take the early lead.

Jordan led on floor for most of the meet until Texas Woman's Schyler Jones received a 9.875 as the last performer of the meet.

After a 47.775 on vault, where White finished sixth with a season high of 9.725, the Ladies moved on to bars. Junior Natalie Scates, in only her second meet of the season, upped her career best to 9.450 on the event.

Needing a big score in the final rotation, the Ladies finished the meet with a bang with by tallying their second 48+ on the apparatus in 2018. The anchor on the event, Jordan finished with a huge season best of 9.800 to finish in a tie for third. Smith upped her career best on beam by more than a tenth, receiving a 9.775 to finish tied for sixth. Freshman Jerrica Harris matched her career best with a 9.550, even receiving a 9.6 from one judge.

Besides her floor and beam scores, Smith received a 9.525 on vault and 8.800 on bars to finish second in the all-around with a 37.975 total.

For the host Pioneers, Jones claimed titles on floor (9.875) and vault (9.800). Both receiving a 9.875, Bria Northrop took the top spot on bars while Mallory Moredock claimed the beam title for Texas Woman's.

Kelsey Campbell won the all-around for Bridgeport with a 38.875.

Centenary gymnastics return to action next Sunday, March 24, when it takes on Illinois State. First rotation in Normal, Illinois, is set for 2 p.m.
