Junior Liz Sander Provides Gym Talk before the Ladies First Home Meets!

Note: The Ladies will prepare for five-straight home meets, including Texas Woman's, both Friday, February 2, at 12:30 p.m. and Sunday, February 4, at 2 p.m. Live Updates Links will be available just prior to meet time while Live Video can be found by clicking here.

This is junior Liz Sander with my second gym talk of the year. Your favorite Ladies gymnasts are coming off a weekend off, so we are well-rested and caught up on school work before the month of February starts. We have had some illness going around the team the past couple of weeks, so it is nice to have had a week off to get healthy again! This is a pretty exciting month for us, because in case you haven't checked your calendars, we are home the whole month of February! Throughout this month we will be at home in the Dome not once, not twice, but five times!

We are so excited to get to compete in front of our friends and family, and we hope all of you can make it to Shreveport at some point to watch the excitement. Our first home meet is this Friday, February 2 at 12:30 p.m. versus Texas Woman's University. Then we have a day off to hang out with our family who will be in town before we compete again Sunday at 2 p.m., also against TWU. Our Bars Stars and our Beam Queens have been working extra hard the last week and a half to improve their consistency and make sure we start of these home meets right. Some of our Ladies plan to upgrade their vaults and add back in some more difficult floor tumbling, so make sure and keep your eye out for those improvements.

Shout out to sophomore Kendall Arasmith and freshman Dorothy Mims for being the best teammates and cheerleaders they can be while they are sidelined with some injuries. We appreciate your positive attitudes! Another shout out to freshman Sierra Ponder who is working so hard to get all her routines back after having to take a month off.

We are all so excited to be back in the Dome, but we are most excited to get to show our freshies all the excitement that comes with a home meet! Don't worry though, in the midst of all these competitions and all the traveling, your ladies are working hard to stay caught up with their school work so our spring semester GPA can be even higher than our fall GPA.

We hope all our Ladies fans are happy and healthy, and that we see you in the stands on Friday!
