Hello Ladies and Gents!

Its sophomore Cami Bea here to provide you with this week's Gym Talk! Last week, the Ladies had a short week of practices with only two days, which also means a short week of school. While we had a short week busy with the usual grind of a student-athlete, the Ladies were also scheduling classes for the fall semester! I can't believe I am scheduling classes for my JUNIOR year, wow time really does fly!

Last weekend, the Ladies drove to Cape Girardeau to compete in a dual meet against Southeast Missouri State. We loaded up the bus on Thursday afternoon, and on the way there, we had study hall on the bus. We always have to take advantage of free time to keep up on schoolwork because of our busy schedules. After the Ladies had study hall and napped a little, we ate dinner at the famous Lambert's - Home of the "Throwed" Rolls! That's right, they really do throw the rolls, right across the restaurant to anyone who wants one! We were a sight all standing in the middle of the restaurant with our arms in the air waiting to catch our very own fresh, hot, homemade rolls! We also bought some great souvenirs from Lambert's such as shirts, cups, and leftovers.

Friday was meet day, so as usual, we spent the morning doing our pre-meet rituals; napping, spending time with our teammates doing hair, make-up, tattoo's etc… We started the meet off on bars, it wasn't our best bar rotation, but we did have a few highlights on this event. Shout out to our freshman Si~Si Ponder for beautiful releases and a routine that received a third place finish with a score of 9.70! Next, our vault shakers took on the vault. I personally did a good vault and tied for third with a 9.550. Also shout out to S~Si for competing her front handspring front on vault for the first time, good job Si~Si!!

Next, we were off to floor. This event has become our best event this season and we didn't disappoint on this night. Our lead off, freshman Si~Si, started us off with a mind-blowing floor set, and then our other two freshmen, Jenny and Jerrica, hitting their routines with beautiful passes. The freshman this year have been getting the job done on floor! I helped to wrap up a great floor rotation with a 9.775 for third place. Finally, we were off to the balance beam. Senior Ashley White led us off with a beautiful routine, as always, and got third with a 9.65. Again, freshman Jerrica Harris stepped up with a nice routine and then our beam queen of the day, Junior Navia Jordan received the beam title with a score of 9.775.

After the meet, the Ladies got to spend some time talking to family and friends for a little bit, but then we had to rush to the bus for dinner and to return home that night. This overnight trip gave the Ladies a very rare free Saturday to rest and prepare for the next week!

Check in next week and see how the Ladies do against Bridgeport, Brown, and Yale in the quad meet in Bridgeport, Connecticut!

Bye :),
