Gymnastics Concludes Weekend with Season High on Floor, Two Event Wins

SHREVEPORT, La. - The Ladies were able to claim event wins on both vault and floor, but the Seawolves were able to hold on thanks to wins on bars and beam as Centenary fell to Alaska-Anchorage, 189.050-188.750, Sunday afternoon, February 11.

The Ladies raced out to a solid lead after the first rotation, receiving 47.250 on vault compared to Alaska-Anchorage's 45.950 on bars. Senior Ashley White won the event for Centenary with a season-best 9.700 - more than a tenth better than her nearest competitor. White also went on to win floor with a 9.750.

Sophomore Cami Bea Austin finished third on vault (9.500), on beam (9.675), and on floor (9.675). Combined with a career best on bars (9.100), Austin received a 37.925 in the all-around to finish second - more than two points better than her previous career best.

For the meet, Centenary won on vault (47.250-47.050) and floor (48.200-47.875). However, the Ladies could not overcome Alaska-Anchorage's win on bars (45.950-45.600) and beam (48.175-47.700).

The last performer of the meet, Navia Jordan turned in a 9.700 to finish second on floor - giving the Ladies an event win and their highest team score on any event this season.

Centenary takes almost two weeks off before its next competition at home against Southeast Missouri State for senior night. The festivities are set to begin at 6 p.m.
