SHREVEPORT, La. - The Centenary gymnastics team received numerous bests, while also recording six individual career highs, as the Ladies fell to Texas Woman's University, 192.650-189.750 in the Gold Dome Sunday afternoon, February 4.
The highlight of the meet for Centenary came on beam, where the Ladies hit all six routines and earned a 48.175 - easily a season best. No less than three Maroon and White gymnasts established career highs: sophomores Cami Bea Austin and Delia Ardoin (9.675) and freshman Jerrica Harris (9.550). The other three Ladies' competitors received season highs. Senior Ashley White and junior Tavia Smith earned a 9.625 while junior Navia Jordan tallied a 9.575.
The last performer of the meet, Jordan captured her first event title of the season on floor with a 9.800. Smith finished second in the all-around, eclipsing the 38 mark for the first time in her career. She finished with a 38.200 total and season highs on vault, bars, and beam.
Freshman Jenny Jackson recorded career bests on both vault (9.425) and floor (9.375).
As a team, the Ladies also earned a season high of 47.525 on vault and finished ahead of the Pioneers on floor.
Leading Texas Woman's was Schyler Jones, who won titles on vault (9.800) and in the all-around (38.475).
Centenary continues its five-meet home stand next weekend, when it welcomes Alaska for a pair of competitions. The Ladies take on the Seawolves Friday, February 9, at 6 p.m. before finishing the weekend Sunday, February 11, at 2 p.m.
