Junior Tavia Smith Provides Gym Talk!

Centenary Ladies gymnastics fans, it's gym talk time again! Junior Tavia Smith coming to you live from the St. Louis airport. Your ladies just put another meet in the books last night at Lindenwood University, and I'm proud to see all the progress we're making.

After returning from Kent State on Monday, we were blessed to have the day off of school and gymnastics responsibilities. Then on Tuesday, we got our first snow in Shreveport in 3 years! You know what that means…… SNOW DAY!!! So we got to spend the day sleeping in and playing in the snow. But, you know we Ladies still had to put in some work, and since we couldn't drive to our usual practice location, we set up bars and beam in the Gold Dome in order to get in some competition routines. After two short days of practice, it was off to Missouri!

After landing in St. Louis, Coach Jackie took us to the City Museum (which is code word for a big giant playground with a 10-story slide). We were probably some of the only adults there who weren't accompanying a minor, but we didn't mind. We ran around, climbed in some trees, and had the time of our lives really.

The next day was meet day, and your Ladies were HUGNRY for more. A near perfect warm-up had your ladies hype to go out there and seize the day. Shout out to freshman Jerrica Harris for making her first appearance in the all around this weekend. So proud of you my sister! She also led the team with our highest score on beam in her collegiate debut on the event! (did somebody say BEAM QUEEN?) Congrats to Senior Kaity Mussio for making her way back into the bar line up after having season ending surgery last season. So proud of your hard work KD! Keep it up! Also shout out to our floor roars for their awesome routines this weekend highlighted by 9.7s from Junior Navia Jordan and Sophomore Cami Bea Austin. (P.S. I added in a new last tumbling pass this weekend and there are definitely more upgrades in the works for your Ladies in the near future, so stay tuned….)

Overall, your Ladies improved by about six points this weekend, but we definitely aren't done yet. Catch us in our home opener in the Gold Dome on February 2 at 12:30 pm as we take on Texas Woman's. Bring all your friends and family cause the ladies are about to get HYPE. GET READY LADIES AND GENTS FANS CAUSE IT'S TIME TO EAT.

Over and out,

Tavia aka TT aka Tdaddy
