Hello Ladies and Gents Fans!

This is sophomore Delia Ardoin bringing you this week's gym talk! We were fortunate enough to do bars and beam at the Gold Dome this past week for our last full week of practice! We love Gold Dome practices since it helps everyone get into the mood of a competition setting. During practices, we have been focusing a lot on the mental side of gymnastics. Since the majority of this sport is mental, we have been focusing on gaining confidence in ourselves, doing many pressure sets. This has helped us to be more confident in ourselves, but also trust in each other, making sure everyone knows we have each other's backs. Congrats to all the Ladies for working hard this far in the season to be where we are now! We are almost there (are we seriously almost done with the 2018 season?!) but let's continue to show everyone what we've got!

Between school and gym, this week has been pretty stressful for many! Since our academics come first, most of us were planning trying to get ahead in school since we will be missing many classes these last two weeks of season. Getting ahead means we have to schedule make-up tests, labs, and other homework assignments. Luckily, we have great professors who are willing to work with us!

This past weekend, we traveled to Bridgeport, Connecticut, for our quad-meet against Brown University, Yale University and the University of Bridgeport. The meet went well for your Ladies. To help encourage sticks, we had a "stickers for sticks" game going where we get stickers for every stick we did. We started out on floor so shout out to our floor roars for starting us off strong! We went on to vault, then bars and finished on beam. Some highlights of the meet were: Ashley for doing a sky-high vault, Jenny for doing a spectacular bar routine with a stick, Tavia competing a beautiful bar routine and Nav for doing an amazing no wobble beam routine! The meet was not our strongest meet, but this team has learned to never give up, and we still fought all the way through to finish with a decent score! Special shout out to Ashley's family for taking us out for dinner after the meet! Everyone enjoyed their meal!

We were lucky enough to have some time wander around New York City doing touristy things - and of course, getting in some shopping. We had a rough start getting to Times Square since there was construction, but once we finally made it, many were amazed by the many TV screens. I personally felt like I was in a movie since this was my first time in New York. Next, we walked around making stops such as Carlo's Bakery, which was life changing for Jerrica (and no Buddy was not there), many clothing stores, St. Patrick's Cathedral, M&M World, and the classic souvenir stores. We finished the night in NYC by eating dinner at the famous Ellen's Stardust Diner. In case you are like me and did not know about Stardust, it is a diner where your servers perform Broadway songs to you while you eat. These people are trying to get onto Broadway! Cool, right? However, we won't mention how long we had to wait outside in the cold. All in all, it was a really fun experience! Everyone had a great time and made many memories!

Make sure you follow us on social media so you can see our adventures as we head to St. Louis for our conference meet!

Catch y'all on the flip side!
