Hello Centenary Gymnastics fans! Its junior Aspen aka "Spin" checking in to provide you with this week's Gym Talk!

If you have been keeping up with our busy meet schedule, we finished our busy February schedule with a double-meet weekend, a dual meet at The Dome against SEMO and a quad meet at TWU. Last week, we were able to get a solid week of training, fixing up routines, adding upgrades, and fixing minor tenths to help us in the following meets. Practices was focused on execution and performance, and really digging deep to making every turn count as we only have two meets left before MIC Championships (yes, it went by so fast!)

Last weekend, we flew to the windy city of Chicago and hopped in a van to Bloomington, Illinois, to compete in a dual meet against Illinois State. What a time we had here. Starting off on bars, it was a fly high event! Shout outs to our freshman Jenny and Si~Si for beautiful releases and routines which Si~Si claimed second place with a career high of 9.750! Also, S/O to junior Natalie Scates, as this was her first time traveling this year since a recent injury! We are ecstatic to have you back Nat! Next, vault shakers took on the vault as two of our Ladies, Cami Bea & Tavia Smith, scored with soaring layout vaults, tying third with a 9.575. Moving on, we tumbled high and danced our way through floor with freshman Sierra "Si~Si" Ponder, also known on the floor as the snake whisper, starting us off with a mind-blowing floor set. Next up, sophomore "Space Cowboy" Cami Bea Austin received a 9.775 for third place. The rotation ended with our anchor Navia Jordan, who placed second and earned a solid score of 9.8. To watch our Ladies on the floor, it is a sight to see and something you won't forget. GO FLOOR ROARS! Finally, ending on one of our strongest event, the balance beam, senior Ashley led us off with a beautiful routine, followed by sophomore Delia with a hit routine. The momentum only went up from there! Sophomore Evelyn Harris competed for the first time this year with a stunning beam routine that earned her a tie for first place with a 9.775. NO FALLS WERE COUNTED! HIT 6 FOR 6!

After the meet, we ate dinner at an Italian restaurant with family and friends, it was a great way to end the day. But the grind did not stop there as we are not only athletes, but students too! School comes first and is strictly enforced - we as athletes must study hard and efficiently, especially during season! We went back to the hotel and had study hall to end the night, before getting up early to head back to Chicago for the long trip back to Centenary. As we departed Chi-Town Midway Airport, it only brought back memories from last year's frenzy of a missed flight that had us reminiscing and laughing through security checkpoint! This time, we arrived at the airport early in plenty of time for our flight 😉 Ah, memories.

We have so much more to give in the next few weeks as we are sadly now approaching the end of the season. We can only go up from here. The Ladies are hungry! Well this is all I have for you today! Thank you so much for your support Gym Fans. Check in next week and see how the Ladies do this Friday in Cape Girardeau, MO against SEMO!

See ya,

Love Spinny
