LONGVIEW, Texas - The offenses were on full display Wednesday night, April 11, as Centenary (13-17) took game one, 11-6, before falling in game two to LeTourneau (11-19) 19-18 in eight innings in a softball header in Longview, Texas.

In game one up 6-4 after four innings, the Ladies scored four in the fifth to blow open the contest. Junior Wendy Gillet led off the inning with a double and moved to third on senior Kelsey Ancelot's bunt single. Junior Payton LeBlanc then singled down the left field line to score the seventh run of the game. A wild pitch moved both runners into scoring position before Ancelot scored on junior Margeaux Smith's sacrifice fly. Senior Anna Dunn added a two-out, two-run home run to push the lead to six.

Dunn added a three-run home run in game two and easily leads the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference with nine home runs - three more than the next player. Her seven RBI's in game two also moves her up to second in the conference in RBIs with 34.

Senior Haley Miller (1-0) picked up the win in relief, allowing two runs and four hits in 3.1 innings pitched. Despite being the starter, junior Nichole Aldridge picked up her first save of the year when she reentered the game in the bottom of the seventh with the bases loaded and a Ladies five run lead. Aldridge allowed four hits and four unearned runs in 3.2 innings pitched total for the first game.

LeBlanc led the Ladies with a 3-for-5 afternoon in game one, adding four runs and two RBI's.

Down 11-4 in the seventh, LeTourneau's Katelyn Trombley added a two-run round tripper for the final runs of the game. Trombley finished the game 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Julie Martinez (4-8) took the loss in the circle for the YellowJackets, allowing seven hits and six runs (four earned) in three innings of work.

In game two, both teams stood tied at 16 after seven innings, the Ladies scored a pair in the top of the eighth. However, down 18-17, a two-out RBI double by Macey Mize and an RBI single by Bailey Woodward completed the comeback from a 10-run deficit for the home team.

Aldridge (6-8) took the loss for the Ladies, allowing 12 hits and 12 runs (six earned) in three innings of work. Martinez took the win in game two for the YellowJackets, giving up two hits and two unearned runs in two innings of work.

Centenary returns to action Saturday for its first SCAC games in three weeks when it hosts Dallas for a senior day doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
