What a Week!

Softball had final home week of the season April 9-15.

Senior Anna Dunn, playing in her final home games of her collegiate career, was named NFCA National Player of the Week and SCAC Player of the Week after going 16-for-26 with 20 RBIs, 11 runs scored, five home runs, and three doubles in seven games. In the final game of a doubleheader against Dallas on Saturday, April 14, her two home runs was the first time a Centenary hitter hit two round trippers in one game in five seasons.

However, Dunn was not the only one to have an outstanding week from the plate. Junior Payton LeBlanc raised her season average over 150 points to then .347, going 16-for-26 with a hit in all eight games on the week. She also added five walks, a hit by pitch, and 15 runs scored. She hit her first home run ever, as well as a double, in the Centenary 9-4 win against Dallas Saturday.

Junior Wendy Gillet added a home run and five doubles on the week.

In the Rankings

With a spectacular senior week, senior Anna Dunn moved up in many categories in both the SCAC and nationally. Her 13 home runs on the season ranks sixth in the country and easily leads the conference. Her home run this past weekend off of the 2017 SCAC Pitcher of the Year was not only the first round tripper by an SCAC player off of Maitlin Raycroft, it also tied her with former Lady Janis Kelley (2004) for most dingers in a single season in program history. Dunn needs one more to tie the SCAC single-season mark.

Dunn ranks third in both program and SCAC history with 25 career home runs.

In the nation, she also sits 13th in total bases (93), 14th in slugging percentage (.912), and 227th in average (.422). Dunn leads the conference in home run, total bases, and slugging while ranking third by a mere percentage point in average.

Sophomore Haley Campbell ranks 42nd in sacrifice hits per game, while senior Kelsey Ancelot is 51st in the nation with 0.62 stolen bases per game. Junior Wendy Gillet leads the conference with 14 doubles, sitting 79th in the nation with 0.42 doubles per game.

Finally, junior Payton LeBlanc leads the SCAC and is 110th in the nation with a .509 on-base percentage. She easily leads the conference with 25 walks on the season, sitting 14th in the nation with 0.76 walks per game.
