Dunn, Gillet Named to SCAC Softball All-Tournament Team

GEORGETOWN, Texas - Senior Anna Dunn (outfield) and junior Wendy Gillet (utility) were both named to the 2018 Sothern Collegiate Athletic Conference Softball All-Tournament Team, announced following the conclusion of the tournament. Centenary finished third in the 2018 tournament for the second time in the last three years.

For the weekend, Dunn went 7-for-16 for the tournament with seven RBIs, five runs scored, two doubles, and two home runs. In the first game of the tournament against Trinity Friday, she broke the program's single-season home record with a shot to left center in the third. She later added a single and scored in the sixth as the Ladies won 4-0. In an elimination game Saturday against Dallas, she went 3-for-4 with a run scored.

In a 9-5 win against Schreiner in another elimination game Saturday, she went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and five RBIs. In the third with the Ladies down 2-0, she hit a two-RBI double to tie the game. In the fourth, she broke the single-season SCAC home run record with a three-run shot to left center.

Dunn currently leads the conference in both home runs (15) and RBIs (52), ranking third and sixth in the country in those categories. Her .915 slugging percentage for the season ranks 13th in the country and easily breaks the Centenary single-season record.

Her 27 career home runs also rank fourth in the SCAC career record book.

Gillet finished the tournament 3-for-10 with six RBIs and a run scored. However, with one swing of the bat Saturday morning against Dallas, she helped keep the Ladies season alive. In the bottom of the seventh, she hit a walk off grand slam to give Centenary a 6-3 win. The Ladies had trailed the Crusaders 3-0 before scoring six runs in the seventh.

Gillet currently leads the SCAC in doubles (15) and sits 85th in the country with 0.39 doubles per game.

This is the second All-Tournament Team appearance for Dunn, making it as a third baseman in 2017. This is the first All-Tournament honor for Gillet.
