Ladies Softball Drops Regular Season Finale, 6-0

SEGUIN, Texas - Ladies softball was unable to take advantage of four walks and a hit in the first two innings while the home team scored two in the second and four in the sixth as Centenary (17-20, 8-11 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) fell to #2 Texas Lutheran (34-1, 19-0 SCAC) 6-0 Saturday afternoon, April 21.

The second game was rained out in the third inning of the schedule second game with Texas Lutheran leading 2-0 in the third.

Junior Sydney Hurley managed the only Ladies hit for the game in the first inning. With two outs in the second, seniors Haley Miller and Kelsey Ancelot with junior Payton LeBlanc walked. However, a strikeout ended the threat.

Junior Margeaux Smith (4-3) took the loss in the circle for Centenary, allowing seven hit and three runs in five innings of work.

In the second for Texas Lutheran, Madisyn Cates and Cassie Roche began the inning with singles before a sacrifice bunt moved both runners into scoring position. Kassie Maddox put the home team on the board with a two RBI single.

Cates went 3-for-3 with a run scored while Roche went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Jordaine Bishop (9-0) picked up the win in relief, allowing just a walk in the final five innings of work.

Centenary returns to action Friday morning, April 27, as either the third seed and playing Dallas or the fourth seed and playing Trinity in the 2018 SCAC Tournament. If Southwestern loses both games at Dallas Sunday afternoon, April 22, Centenary will be the three seed. If the Pirates win at least one, the Ladies will be the fourth seed. Southwestern is hosting the tournament in Georgetown, Texas.
