Women's Soccer Returns Home To Face St. Thomas

Shreveport – The Centenary women's soccer team will face the St. Thomas Celts in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match set for Friday at 5 p.m. at Mayo Field.

The Ladies (10-1, 2-1 SCAC) lost for the first time this season after winning its first 10 games as the Ladies fell to Trinity, 4-0, on Sunday in a road conference match. The Maroon and White defeated Schreiner 4-1 last Friday. Centenary is still off to the best start in program history and have eclipsed last season's win total (9) and have won the most games in a season since going 10-8-1 in 2011.

Centenary is currently tied for second place in the conference standings with Southwestern, just behind Trinity and the University of Dallas, who are tied for first at 3-0 in SCAC play.The Celts enter Friday's match at 4-5-1 and 1-2 in SCAC play. The Ladies are receiving votes in the in the latest edition of the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 NCAA Division III Poll for the West Region for the third straight week. 

Senior Migui Boldrin (Ribeiaro, Brazil) scored two goals to increase her team lead to 11. Boldrin is also the conference leader in the category as well as in points and shots per game. Boldrin's 11 goals this season ranks third all-time in a single season in program history (record is 14). Fellow senior Kyra Montes (Shreveport) had three assists to set a single game program record in her first action after missing two games while participating for the Nicaraguan national team in two World Cup qualifying matches last weekend. Montes has five goals and six assists and three game-winning goals this season.

Centenary ranks second in the SCAC in goals (79), points (79), goals per game, assists, and assists per game and third in shots. Boldrin and Montes are ranked 1-2 in the conference in points per game and goals per game. Montes is also the conference leader in assists with six, one head of teammate Sydney Bascomb (Mesquite, Texas) who has five.
