Women's Soccer Rolls To 6-1 Victory Over Louisiana College

Shreveport – The Centenary women's soccer team flexed its offensive muscles on Monday evening as the Ladies defeated the Louisiana College Wildcats, 6-1, in a non-conference match at Mayo Field.

The Ladies (12-1) remained hot as they continued one of the best starts to a season in program history as the 12 wins this season are the most in the division III era. The record for wins in a season was set by the 1996 team with 16 in 2004 in the division 1 era. Centenary improved to 7-0 at home and have allowed one goal or less in all seven matches, outscoring the opposition, 19-5. Louisiana College fell to 1-13-1 with Monday's loss.

Senior midfielder Migui Boldrin (Ribeiaro, Brazil) opened the scoring for the Ladies in the 27th minute of the first half as she connected on a penalty kick to put the Ladies up 1-0. The goal was Boldrin's 13th of the season, which leads the team and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. The 13 goals are tied for the second-most in a single season in program history in the current division III era. Teammate and fellow senior Kyra Montes, a Shreveport native, holds the record with 14 set last season.

Montes scored a minute later to make it 2-0, her sixth goal of the season. Freshman Sydney Bascomb (Mesquite, Texas) made it 3-0 four minutes later off an assist from Ariel Muller (Groves, Texas). Rami Mitchell found the net for Louisiana College eight minutes shy of halftime to make it a 3-1 game at the break.

The Ladies stepped on the gas again in the second half as Montes scored two more goals, her seventh and eighth of the season to give her the hat trick for the game. Montes now has eight goals and seven assists this season in just eight games played and scored three goals in a game for the third time in her career after doing it twice last season. Freshman Micah Goss (Sulphur, La.) scored her first-career goal late in the match to make it 6-1.

Freshman goalkeeper Karlie Delhommer (St. Amant. La.) and junior Maggie Pitcher (San Antonio, Texas) each played a half on Monday. The Ladies' stout defense held Louisiana College to just one shot and no goals in the second half. Centenary held a decisive 18-5 advantage in shots for the match and their aggressive play near the goal led to seven corner kicks to none for the Wildcats.

The Ladies return to SCAC play this weekend as they hit the road and face Dallas on Friday at 5 p.m. and Austin College on Sunday at Noon. #GoCentenary #CTheOpportunity
