Centenary Ladies Gym Talk: September 19 Edition

Centenary Ladies Gym Talk: September 19 Edition

Hi Centenary Ladies fans! This is your junior Sierra Ponder coming at you with this week's Gym Talk!

To start our week off with a bang we, the bright-eyed, busy-tailed ladies got our blood flowing with an efficient 6 am track workout. This week's track workout included lots of team support as we ran our stadiums and ended on teams pushing each other to be faster than the other. Congrats on Jerrica's team for being the fastest up the stadiums!

Later in the day the Ladies attended team study hall where they focused in on their studies and asked questions if necessary, as our first exams were approaching. We were all trying to get a lot done in the 2 hours set aside for studying by creating flash cards, quizzing each other, and studying together with other classmates. Shout out to all of the freshman who finally took their first exam! I know the Ladies were prepared and have no doubt in my mind that we'll continue to excel in and outside of the classroom.

Leading into the weekend, the Ladies sat in a safety training meeting with the on-campus police who expressed to us how important it is to stick to together and watch each other's back. It was a very welcoming conversation that is necessary to have as a team so that we are all aware of what goes on in the world around us and that we've got to be alert at all times. This conversation instantly made me think one of the team dynamics we use which is having the mentality of you got my back and I got yours, but instead of just being used in the gym, its applied in the real world as well.

Our open gyms this week-end had the mentality that I discussed previously. The vault shakers Leilani Johnson and Kendall Huff had HUGE air time on their TWISTING vaults. That's right our freshman are on fire and continue to make improvements every day, I'm so proud of them! To continue onto bars, The Bar Swangers Xian Baumgartner and Jenny Jackson have really been trying hard to perfect their releases. Congrats Ladies on making those small corrections and making those beautiful connections! Last but not least shout out to Rose Deshler. Kendall Huff and Cami Bea Austin; Rose and Kendall did some amazing double backs on floor for the first time after their ankle surgery! They are doing fantastic and I can't wait to see them shine on the floor! Floor Roar Cami Bea Austin just casually decided to do a double layout and it was EFFORTLESS!!! Is she going to compete this skill? I sure hope so…

Stay tuned this season Ladies fans to see senior Cami Bea Austin soar!
