Gymnastics Places Third At NC State Tri-Meet On Friday

Raleigh, N.C. – The Centenary gymnastics team placed third in a tri-meet against host North Carolina State and William & Mary on Friday evening at Valvano Arena at Reynolds Coliseum.

The Ladies finished with a score of 189.250 while NC State scored a season-best 196.500 and William & Mary placed second with a 192.975. Centenary, which entered the meet as the highest ranked team in division III in the country in the latest Road to Nationals rankings, was coming off of a third-place finish at the Lindenwood University Quad Meet on Sunday in their second of two weekend meets held in St. Charles, Mo. The Maroon and White also placed third in the GymQuarters Mardi Gras Invitational tri meet last Friday. The Ladies are currently ranked 67th overall among all teams nationwide covering division I, II, and III.

Senior Dorothy Mims (Huntsville, Ala.) finished in a three-way tie for fourth place on the beam with a score of 9.775. Senior Cami Bea Austin (Memphis, Tenn.) and sophomore Kendall Sanders (Spring Branch, Texas) tied for ninth in the event with a score of 9.675. NC State's Drew Grantham won the event with a score of 9.850.

Austin had the Ladies' best individual finish of the evening on the floor where she placed in a tie for fourth overall with a score of 9.825. Sanders finished sixth in the all-around with a score of 37.350. Grantham was the winner with a score of 39.450. Austin earned a top-10 finish on the vault, scoring a 9.70 to place eighth.

Centenary's next meet will be held on Sunday, March 1 against Southeast Missouri at 2 p.m. The meet, the Ladies' final one at home this season, will serve as Senior Day.
