Centenary Ladies Gym Talk: February 27 Edition

Centenary Ladies Gym Talk: February 27 Edition

Hey Ladies fans, it's your girl Xi pie back with another gym talk.

This last week the Ladies went to North Carolina and competed against NC State and William and Mary. We had a short week coming off a double meet weekend, and it was mid-terms too, so we had limited time in the gym, and some stressful days trying to make up the work we missed the previous week on top of keeping up with this week's tests.  But never fear, your Ladies stayed the course and made it through!

Our weekend started off a little long; we were about an hour or so from Dallas when Coach Jackie got a phone call that our flight was cancelled.  We were re-booked on another flight, but it was 5 ½ hours later than our first flight. To kill time the Ladies stopped at the Texas destination gas station, Buccee's – yes, you heard that right – a destination gas station!  If you haven't ever been it's definitely worth a stop if you are in Texas. We wandered around there for a little bit and decided to go across the street to the movies! Some of us watched Jumanji and the others watched The Photograph.

After the movies we headed to the airport and had some dinner and waited longer as our new flight was then delayed!   This meant we were most likely going to miss our connecting flight in Atlanta. But to our surprise Southwest held the second flight just for us!  We were able to walk off our first flight and walk directly onto our next one! Thank you Southwest! We finally landed in Raleigh, North Carolina at 11:30 p.m. We then headed to our hotel to shower and go to sleep.

The next morning was meet day. We had our breakfast at the hotel, and since it was cold and snowing while we were there, we made a trip to the mall. We were able to walk around, do some shopping and have some down time with our teammates. Of course, some of us came away with a few cute purchases! After that we headed back to the hotel to have lunch and prepare for the meet.  One of my favorite things about meet day is getting our hair and make-up done with all my friends and feeling the hype as we get closer to our departure time!

We didn't have a bad day, but it wasn't our best meet either.  The week of tests, stress and long travel caught up to us a bit, but as a whole the team pushed through it and had some good results. Shoutout to Dot for an amazing beam routine, can't wait for the 10! Another shoutout to my sister Si-Si for having such beautifully clean bars. Cami came through with a great floor routine and tied her career high there, and Xi-pie (yes me) also had a career high on bars!

We have a break this week from school, and a few extra days of practice as we prepare for our last home meet and senior night. We will be celebrating seniors Dorothy Mims and Cami Bea Austin.
