Gymnastics To Compete in TWU Quad Meet On Friday

Denton, Texas-  The Centenary gymnastics team will face host Texas Woman's University, Arkansas, and LSU on Friday in the TWU Quad Meet set for 7 p.m. at Kitty Magee Arena.

The Ladies are fresh off their best team score of the season (191.875) last Sunday at home on Senior Day against Southeast Missouri State University. Centenary will compete against a loaded field this weekend as LSU is ranked No. 6 nationally in the latest Road to Nationals rankings, Arkansas is No. 17, and TWU checks in at 50th. Centenary, ranked 67th nationally, are the highest ranked team in division III in the country. The Ladies and TWU have met twice previously this season, both times in Shreveport.

The Ladies' two seniors, Cami Bea Austin (Memphis, Tenn.) and Dorothy Mims (Huntsville, Ala.) were honored on Sunday at the end of the meet. Austin won the vault with a 9.80 score as she has scored no less than a 9.80 in her last five meets this season, including a season-best mark of 9.825 twice last month. She also placed second on the floor with a superb routine, scoring a 9.80. Austin capped off her Senior Day performance with a fifth-place finish on the beam with a score of season personal best score of 9.70.

Sophomore Kendall Sanders (Spring Branch, Texas) placed third in the all-around competition on Sunday versus SEMO with a total score of 38.025. She finished third on the beam with a season personal-best tying score of 9.725 and placed fifth on the bars with a score of 9.650. Junior Jenny Jackson (Monticello, Fla.) tied Sanders for fifth on bars with a 9.650, a personal best record for the Florida native in the event. Junior Jerrica Harris (Memphis, Tenn.) just missed a top-five finish on floor as she posted a personal-best score of 9.675 to tie for sixth.

Centenary will face SEMO again on Friday, March 13 at 3 p.m. in Cape Girardeau. Mo. The Ladies then join Lindenwood, Illinoi State, and TWU for the Midwest Independent Conference Championships March 20 at 6 p.m. in Normal, Ill.
