Three Ladies Gymnasts Named to WCGA All-America Team

Bowling Green, Ohio – Three Centenary Ladies gymnasts were named to the 2020 Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association All-America Team, as seniors Cami Bea Austin and Dorothy Mims, and sophomore Kendall Sanders all received the national honors, the WCGA announced on Thursday.

This is the first time Division III Regular Season All America awards have been awarded separately from Division I and Division II. All-America honors are given to the top finisher, plus ties for the NCAA regular season for all four events plus the all-around in each division: the NCGA East plus Centenary and the NCGA West. Second Team All-America are earned by second place finishers, plus ties, of the NCAA regular season for all four (4) events plus the all-around in each region too.

Cami Bea Austin (Memphis, Tenn.) was named All-America on the vault and Second Team All-America on the floor. Dorothy Mims (Huntsville, Ala.) earned Second Team All-America honors on the beam, and Kendall Sanders (Spring Branch, Texas) was named All-America in the All Around. Austin placed first in the vault in the NCGA East Division with a Seasonal Average Score (SAS) of 9.738 and second on the floor with a score of 9.818. Mims placed second on the beam with a score of 9.775 while Sanders placed first in the All Around with an SAS of 38.28.

Austin earned second team honors on both the floor and vault from the Midwest Independent Conference on Monday after she was honored as the MIC Senior of the Year along with two others last week, an award which recognizes the most outstanding gymnast in their final season of competition. Austin, Mims, and Sanders were all named to the MIC Scholar-Athlete Team this week as each earned a 3.25 grade point average or higher during the fall 2019 semester.
