Shreveport- The Centenary gymnastics team welcomes the Southeast Missouri State University Redhawks to town on Sunday for its annual "Senior Day" meet set for 2 p.m. at the Gold Dome.
Two seniors, Cami Bea Austin (Memphis, Tenn.) and Dorothy Mims (Huntsville, Ala.) will be honored on Sunday. Live stats and live video will be available for the meet via www.gocentenary.com.
The Ladies are coming off of a third-place finish last weekend in Raleigh, North Carolina in a tri-meet hosted by NC State in which they posted a 189.250 score. Centenary enters Sunday's meet as highest ranked team in division III in the country in the latest Road to Nationals rankings, as the Ladies are No. 65. SEMO, a division 1 school and a fellow Midwest Independent Conference member of Centenary's, is ranked 60th in the Road to Nationals rankings.
Centenary has had a busy last month as the Ladies hosted Texas Woman's University on Feb. 7, defeated Winona State two days later, and then finished third in the GymQuarters Mardi Gras Invitational tri meet on Feb. 14. The Maroon and White then finished third in the Lindenwood Quad on Feb. 16 before their appearance in North Carolina last weekend.
Mims finished in a three-way tie for fourth place on the beam with a score of 9.775 last weekend while Austin and sophomore Kendall Sanders (Spring Branch, Texas) tied for ninth in the event with a score of 9.675.
Austin had the Ladies' best individual finish of the evening on the floor where she placed in a tie for fourth overall with a score of 9.825. Sanders finished sixth in the all-around with a score of 37.350. Austin earned a top-10 finish on the vault, scoring a 9.70 to place eighth.
Centenary will hit the road again following Sunday's meet as the Ladies will head to Denton, Texas for the TWU Quad Meet hosted by Texas Woman's University along with Arkansas and LSU.
