Women's Basketball To Face Grambling In Exhibition On Wednesday

Grambling, La. – The Centenary women's basketball team will face the Grambling Lady Tigers in a non-conference exhibition game set for 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center.

The Ladies (0-1) opened their regular season on Sunday with a 64-57 loss to Hendrix at home. The Lady Tigers enter Wednesday's contest at 0-3 overall and fell on the road, 89-42, to Georgia Tech on Sunday.

Centenary was led in scoring by junior guard Alex Williams (Shreveport), a former Loyola College Prep star who was making her Maroon and White debut after transferring from Bossier Parish Community College.  Freshman guard Destini Powell (Minden, La.) added 10 points in her collegiate debut and junior guard Jennae Mayberry (Clovis, Calif.) scored eight points and had eight rebounds in her debut with the Ladies after transferring from Santa Barbara City College.

The Ladies struggled from the field, shooting just 28.3 % for the game (17-60) and missed 16 free throws. Centenary did force 24 turnovers and held the Warriors to 26.3 % shooting from three-point range. The Ladies also collected 11 steals in the game led by Williams' five.

Centenary will welcome Millsaps to town on Tuesday, Nov. 19 for a 5:30 p.m. game at the Gold Dome.
