Volleyball drops pairs of matches on Friday in SCAC Group A Divisional

Shreveport, La. - The Centenary volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on Friday on the opening day of the SCAC Group A Divisional Tournament held at the campus Fitness Center and the Gold Dome.

The Ladies (3-10, 1-2 SCAC) were swept by Southwestern University and Colorado College and will face Schreiner at 2 p.m. Saturday and then cap off the weekend with a match versus The University of Dallas at 4:30 p.m. Both matches will be held inside the Gold Dome. 

Coloroado College (11-2, 2-0 SCAC) won by scores of 25-21, 25-15, and 25-14. Centenary Sophomore Elizabeth Epley (Nashville, Tenn.) led the Ladies with six kills versus the Tigers while teammates Rachel Demerjian (Glendora, Calif.) and Marissa Sandoval (San Antonion, Texas) led the Ladies with nine digs each. In t the Ladies' opening match Friday versus Southwestern (8-4, 2-0 SCAC), four Ladies (Demerjian, Sandoval, Lauren Kelley (Fort Worth, Texas) and Ami Powers (Katy, Texas) each collected double-digit digs. Kelly and Powers posted double-digit kills. 

Following this weekend's tournament, the Ladies remain at home to face ETBU on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. and then will head to Houston on Sept. 28 to face St. Thomas in a conference match.
