Volleyball Splits Pair of Matches On Friday In Texas

Richardson, Texas – The Centenary volleyball team split a pair of matches on Friday in the University of Texas-Dallas Tri-Match at the UTD Activity Center in Richardson. 

The Ladies (9-16) are 3-3 in their last six matches after going 2-2 last weekend at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Cross-Divisional Tournament hosted by Schreiner University in Kerrville. The Maroon and White fell 3-0 to host UT-Dallas and swept Belhaven, 3-0, on Friday. UT-Dallas improved to 15-3 on the season by winning its 12th-straight match. 

Senior Marissa Sandoval (San Antonio, Texas) had 13 digs in the match against UT-Dallas. Sophomore Rachel Demerjian (Glendora, Calif.) had 15 digs and 21 assists. Alyssa Davis (Van Alstyne, Texas) and freshman Liz Lowe (San Antonio, Texas) each posted six kills. 

The Ladies swept Belhaven (7-12) by scores of 25-20, 25-21, and 25-15. Demerjian posted 34 assists and had 10 digs. Sandoval had 25 digs while junior Ami Powers (Katy, Texas) added 14 digs and Lowe and sophomore Elizabeth Epley (Nashville, Tenn.) combined for 23 kills. 

The Ladies are back on the road next weekend as they head to Irving, Texas to take part in the SCAC Group A Divisional #2. Centenary will be joined by Colorado College, The University of Dallas, Schreiner, and Southwestern for the two-day event. The Maroon and White are 5-5 in SCAC play.
