Volleyball Drops Pair Of SCAC Matches On Saturday

Sherman, Texas – The Centenary volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on Saturday to Texas Lutheran and Trinity in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Cross Divisional #2 hosted by Austin College.

The Ladies (10-22, 6-10 SCAC) will wrap up the weekend with two more matches on Sunday as the Maroon and White face Johnson and Wales at 2 p.m. and host Austin College at 6 p.m. Centenary lost both matches on Saturday 3-0.

Marissa Sandoval (San Antonio, Texas) had 19 digs in the match against Texas Lutheran and Rachel Demerjian (Glendora, Calif.) added 11 and led the way with 29 assists. Alyssa Davis (Van Alstyne, Texas) and Elizabeth Epley (Nashville, Tenn.) combined for 20 kills.

Demerjian had 21 assists in the second match against Trinity and Sandoval and Demerjian combined for 17 digs. Epley and Ami Powers (Katy, Texas) each had seven kills. The Ladies entered Saturday's play leading the country in all of division III in team digs with 2,290. Sandoval also entered Saturday as the individual leader in the nation in total digs at 660 and with three regular season matches remaining, she is the new Centenary record holder for total digs/season.

Centenary will wrap up its regular season at home on Friday, Nov. 1 as the Ladies welcome Texas-Dallas to town on Senior Night for a 6 p.m. match. at the Gold Dome. Two Ladies seniors (Kristian Loving (Tyler, Texas) and Sandoval, along with team manager Taylor Morgan will be honored in a special pregame ceremony. #CTheOpportunity #GoCentenary
