Volleyball Falls To Southwestern, 3-0

Irving, Texas – The Centenary volleyball team fell, 3-0, to Southwestern in its first match of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Group A Divisional #2 tournament on Friday at the Maher Center. 

The Ladies (9-17, 5-6 SCAC) will play again this evening against Colorado College at 5 p.m. The event, hosted by the University of Dallas, is a two-day event and the Maroon and White will face Schreiner and Dallas on Saturday at Noon and 6 p.m. respectively. Southwestern improved to 14-9 and 7-4 SCAC with the victory. 

Senior Marissa Sandoval (San Antonio, Texas) had 25 digs in Friday's match. Sophomore Rachel Demerjian (Glendora, Calif.) leads the SCAC in assists with 682 after posting 23 more Friday along with 10 digs. Alyssa Davis (Van Alstyne, Texas), who ranks in the top 10 in the conference in kills added 12 more in the match and Ami Powers (Katy, Texas) had 10 digs. Southwestern had four players post double-digit digs and Emma White posted 17 kills and 17 digs. Darby Stowers had 10 kills and Lasuren Crabtree had 29 assists.
