Shreveport- Centenary women's volleyball head coach Ashley McDonough has announced her 2020 recruiting class.
The class includes 11 incoming student-athletes, seven from Texas, three from Louisiana, and one from California. Below is brief information and a quote from McDonough on each student-athlete.
Caroline Richmond, Buffalo TX, Middle Blocker
"Caroline is a dynamic All-State 6 rotation middle blocker who played four sports in high school. She brings a high sport IQ and a big block to the program. Through her abilities, she led her team to the 2A Texas state finals."
Lauren Mullenix, League City TX, DS/Libero
"Lauren played for one of the top clubs in the Houston area (AVA), has excellent fundamentals, and reads hitters really well."
Regan Griffin, Arlington TX, Setter
"Regan is no stranger to Shreveport as her uncle used to coach soccer at Centenary. She's a great setter with strong hands and very accurate ball placement."
Brittnie Huester, Lovelady TX, Outside Hitter
"Brittnie played for Willowbrook VBC (traveled over 2 hours each way to practice) to get some of the best club training available. She's committed to improvement and being a competitive offensive threat. "
Robin Lemelle, Liberty TX, Middle Blocker
"Robin is a very goal oriented and athletic competitor. She's presently touching 9'5 on approach and can swing over and through a block. She's going to have a very productive four-year career at Centenary."
Jaycie Proctor, Paris TX, DS/Libero
"Jaycie is a workhorse and a hustler. Defensively she's very quick and committed to touching every ball. In high school she led her conference in digs.
Maddie Schonberg, Harbor City CA, Opposite
"Maddie comes to us as a dual Track thrower/Volleyball player. She played for one of the best high school programs in California consistently known for producing high caliber college athletes."
Tori Reich, Shreveport LA, Opposite
"Volleyball in this area hasn't traditionally been showcased as much as other sports, but Tori has been working with the local clubs for as long as they've been available. Her versatility allows her to play almost any position."
Jaiden Chretien Houston, TX, Middle/Outside
"Jaiden is an aggressive and energetic athlete. She's quick on her feet and moves really well on the court. Her club background includes training with Houston Juniors and Katy VBC.
Alania Bartie, Iowa LA, Setter/Opposite
"Alania played High school ball for Sam Houston in Lake Charles. While her primary position is setter, she has a powerful swing and can easily play outside. Alania is perceptive and very aggressive."
Tori Ligman, Bossier City LA, DS/Libero
"Tori is a highly intelligent and self-motivated young woman. Not only are we expecting big things on the court, but her academics earned her the highest scholarship Centenary offers. She was only the only one of 30 fall athletes in the state to maintain a perfect GPA all four years of high school.
