ROCK HILL, S.C. - Senior forward Darius Moose has been named to the preseason all-South Atlantic Conference first team.
Moose was the conference's third-leading scorer last year, averaging 19.8 points per game. He also led the team with 5.8 rebounds per contest, good for 14th in the SAC, and dished out a team-high 3.2 assists per game to finish ninth in the league.
Moose recorded four double-doubles last season and reached double figures in scoring in 24 of Brevard's 26 contests, including surpassing 20 points on 13 occasions. He set career highs with 10 assists and five steals in Brevard's win at Tusculum in November, then had 33 points and a Tornados' NCAA-era record 18 rebounds in the Pioneers' return trip to Brevard in January.
The Salisbury, North Carolina native joins five other players on the all-conference first team, headlined by Dondray Walker and Demarkus Smith from Newberry. The duo was the only pair of teammates selected to the first team. Other members include Lincoln Memorial's Lorenza Ross, Wingate's Ryan Daye, and Anderson's Myson Jones.
Moose and the Tornados play an exhibition contest on November 8 at UNC Asheville before opening the regular season against Clayton State and GRU Augusta on November 14 and 15.
