SHREVEPORT, La. - Centenary's Isaiah Whitaker has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Male Character and Community Student-Athlete of the Week. Whitaker becomes the second men's basketball player to be honored by the SCAC for this award.
The Arlington, Texas, native assists with Shriner's Children's Hospital and he and the Gents volunteer as Common Ground in Shreveport. Off the court, Whitaker is the president of his chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and a member Multicultural Student Association.
The Mathematics major helped lead the Gents to a share of the SCAC regular season title, the first since the 1989-90 season in the former Trans-Atlantic Athletic Conference, now the Atlantic Sun and a runner-up finish in the SCAC Basketball Championships.
