ROCK HILL, S.C. - Sophomore guard Trevon Shaw has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week by the conference office.
Shaw led the Tornados to a perfect week as Brevard earned wins over Lees-McRae and Pfeiffer in a pair of nonconference matchups. The Tornados have won three out of their last four contests dating back to December 7, its best four-game stretch since February of 2011.
The St. Helena Island, South Carolina native began his week with an 18-point effort in the Tornados' six-point win over Lees-McRae that led all scorers. He also dished out three assists and had a pair of rebounds in the contest. He followed up that performance with a team-high 20 points, six rebounds, three assists, and a blocked shot in Brevard's dramatic come-from-behind win over Pfeiffer on Wednesday.
For the Week, Shaw knocked down 52.2 percent of his field goal attempts and was a perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line. His 19.0 points per game and six assists were tops on the team.
This marks Brevard's second Player of the Week nod from the conference office this season after Darius Moose was honored on December 8.
Brevard next takes to the court on December 31 in a road matchup with Kentucky Wesleyan.
