Moose named first team all-conference

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Darius Moose has been selected to the all-South Atlantic Conference first team as voted on by the league's coaches.

Moose finished the regular season third in the conference with 17.6 points per game and second in the league with 493 total points. He connected on 177 field goal attempts, second most in the league, and shot at a 47.2 percent clip. Moose was also dangerous from long range, ranking fifth in the conference with 71 three-point field goals, a Brevard single-season record, and sixth with a three-point field goal percentage of 42.8.

He was a dominant scorer this season, reaching double figures in all but four games and crossing the 20-point threshold 12 times. His best performance came in Brevard's first win this season, a 59-56 triumph at Lenoir-Rhyne on December 7, that saw him score 32 points and receive AstroTurf SAC Player of the Week and BennettRank D2 Stud of the Week honors.

Moose also had strong contributions in several other areas this season. He ranked second on the team in assists, was third in rebounding, and had the fifth-highest steal total. He also led the league in both minutes played and minutes per game while starting all 28 games this season.

His impact has been felt in the Brevard record books as well. With two points in tonight's SAC Tournament Quarterfinal at Lincoln Memorial, he will become the first NCAA-era Brevard player to surpass 1,500 career points. He also tops the record books in rebounds, field goals, free throws, games, starts, and minutes, while ranking second in assists and three-point field goals.

Moose will attempt to fill one of the only holes left on his resume as he looks to lead the Tornados to their first postseason victory since winning the South Atlantic Conference Tournament five years ago. Tipoff from Tex Turner Arena on the campus of top-seeded and third-ranked Lincoln Memorial University is set for 7:00 p.m.
