LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - For the fourth time this season Centenary's James Sapp was named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Centenary has claimed the conference's weekly honor six of the 10 times this season with Travion Kirkendoll (Dec. 1) and Kendall Demouchet (Jan. 19) receiving the accolade.
Sapp averaged 22.5 points and 12.5 rebounds this weekend as the Maroon and White moved into first place in the conference standings with a road sweep at Trinity University and Schreiner University. The Shongaloo, La., native posted a career-high 33 points in the Gents' overtime win at Trinity and followed with 12 points against SU. He pulled down 14 and 13 boards respectively during the weekend which gives five double-doubles this season.
The sophomore leads the SCAC in points per game with 15.8 and is third in rebounds per game with 7.7.
Centenary returns to action on Friday, Jan. 30 as they welcome Trinity University. Tip is slated for 8 p.m.
