Gents Golf Finishes Seventh at John Bormann Memorial

SEGUIN, Texas – The Gents Golf Team kicked off the 2018-19 season by finishing seventh at the Texas Lutheran John Bohmann Memorial Invite at the Par-71 Starcke Park Municipal Course in Seguin, Texas, September 10-11.

Southwestern won the three round event with an 850 (-2), followed by host Texas Lutheran seven strokes back. Centenary finished seventh with a 917 (+65) total, 15 strokes behind LeTourneau's 902(+50). The Gents beat out East Texas Baptist by six strokes for seventh.

"We started well, but faded a bit each round in the rainy conditions," said head coach Emlyn Aubrey. "However, this was our best three-round total ever for this group of guys. We are just taking the positives into practice this week in getting ready for the Louisiana College tournament next weekend."

Individually, junior Reed Balcerowicz finished among the leaders in the tournament in birdies with 10 to place 10th. His fired a 70 (-1) in round one and finished with a 216 three-round total (+3). He bested his previous high three-round total by 13 strokes and it was his third top-10 finish in his collegiate career.

Sophomore Harrison John carded a three-round total of 233 (+20) to finish 38th and senior Edvard Granrud shot 235 (+22) to finish 41st.

Junior Brodey Warner finished tied for 43rd with a 238 (+25) total. Rounding out the Gents, junior Donald Frazier finished tied for 45th with a 241 (+28) tournament.

The Gents continue their season, while the Ladies tee off for the first time, at the Louisiana Fall Classic next Monday and Tuesday, September 17-18. The tournament will be played at the Links of the Bayou in Alexandria, Louisiana.
