Carlitos Cesar Ayma Gonzalez Named SCAC Male Community and Character Athlete of the Week

CARLITOS CESAR AYMA GONZALEZ OF CENTNEARY COLLEGE, a freshman on the Gents lacrosse team, has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Male Character & Community Award recipient for the week beginning January 21, 2019.

The SCAC Character & Community award honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.

Ayma Gonzalez has been very busy with many different activities before and during his time at Centenary. His community service prior to college includes helping as a youth soccer coach. The San Antonio native also participated in the annual Basura Bash, which is the largest single-day waterway cleanup in Texas, and the Elf Louise Christmas Project, which collects donations to "provide a little bit of joy to Bexar County's less fortunate children." He has also assisted with the Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner, which provides a Thanksgiving meal for senior citizens who are less fortunate and the Magnet School Fair.

He has stayed busy since coming to Shreveport. Ayma Gonzales helped in the annual MLK Day of Service 2019 and at freshman orientation at Common Ground.

When he is not on the lacrosse field or helping the community, Ayma Gonzalez is performing in Centenary theatre productions and even competing in the Centenary Centtank competition. Centtank is where a team of Centenary students pitch new business ideas with prizes available up to $3,000.

Ayma Gonzalez and the rest of the Gents Lacrosse Team kicks off the 2019 season February 2 at Hendrix.
