Ladies and Gents Swimming Finish Fourth at SCAC Championship, Claim Three More All-Conference Finishes

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Both the Ladies and Gents Swimming teams finished fourth while three more individuals claimed All-Conference accolades on the final day of the 2019 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships Saturday, February 16.

The Ladies finished the meet with 428 points while the Gents accumulated 442 points. Trinity took the women's title while Southwestern won the men's championship.

Freshman Kaylin Swoboda earned runner-up honors in the 200 breaststroke while touching the wall in 2:27.12 – the second-fastest time in program history. Classmate Miguel Vasquez finished second in the 100 freestyle with a time of 46.19, which is tied for the seventh fastest time in Gents history.

The final All-Conference honoree was freshman Brianna Serret in the 200 breaststroke, finishing with the sixth-fastest time in Ladies history with a mark of 2:10.14.

Freshmen Mitchell Lulich and Tripp Montgomery turned in the second and eighth fastest times in school history in the 200 breaststroke. Lulich finished fourth and Montgomery seventh in the event finals, but swam their fastest times in the pre-lims. Lulich touched the wall in 2:09.44, while Montgomery clocked in at 2:10.81.

In the women's 1650 freestyle – and with the 1000 split time – freshmen Lindsay Strohm and Sarah Harrison both entered their names in the top-10 list. Strohm swam the first 1000 in 11:15.43, the eighth fastest 1000. Her finals time of 18:42.92 is the seventh best mark in the 1650 in Ladies history. Strohm completed the first 1000 in 11:19.50, the ninth best time, and 18:45.91 in the whole event, the eighth best time in Ladies history.

This concludes the 2018-2019 Centenary Swimming season. At the SCAC Championships, Centenary captured six different individual and four relay All-Conference honors – including a Gents win in the 200 freestyle relay, the first Gents SCAC Event Title in five years. Also, three individual school records were broken while numerous top-10 times were recorded.
