LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Announced Tuesday afternoon, December 4, by the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference office, freshmen Kaylin Swoboda and Miguel Vasquez swept the conference Swimmer of the Week Awards.

It is the first time since January 29, 2014 that the Ladies and Gents Swimming have swept the weekly SCAC honor (Rachel Olson and Austin Butler).

Swoboda led a trio of Ladies that all finished in the top-4 of the 200 IM. Swoboda touched the wall in 2:19.31 for the event win, while freshman Brianna Serret took third with a time of 2:21.70. Junior Jessi Jordan touched the wall in 2:23.30 to claim fourth. Swoboda also finished as a runner-up in both the 100 (1:12.11) and 200 (2:38.34) breaststrokes.

Swoboda currently ranks fifth in the SCAC in the 100 breaststroke.

Vasquez claimed a pair of firsts and a second. He won the 100 backstroke with a time of 52-flat, the fourth fastest time in school history. He also won the 100 freestyle with a time of 47.57 and took second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 53.54. His 50 backstroke split of 23.69 in the 400 medley relay is the second fastest time in the event in Gents history. He teamed up with freshman Mitchell Lulich and Tripp Montgomery with senior Blake Smith in the relay to finish third with a time of 1:39.99.

The split in the 50 backstroke and the time in the 100 backstroke is the best mark in the conference so far this season.

With this award, Vasquez becomes the first Gents Swimmer to win Conference Swimmer of the Week accolades three times in one season and the first Centenary swimmer since Madi Wyatt for the 2008-09 season (Summit League). Swoboda becomes the first Ladies SCAC Swimmer of the Week honoree since Rachel Olson in 2013-14.

The Ladies and Gents return to the pool January 5, 2019, for the Austin College Invite in Sherman, Texas.
