Ladies and Gents Swimming Introduces 11 Freshmen for the 2018-19 Season

SHREVEPORT, La. – Centenary Swimming will kick off the 2018-19 season Friday night, October 19, against Colorado College. It will be the first ever collegiate meet for 11 freshmen against the Tigers.

Here is a closer look at all 11 freshmen:

 

Ladies

 

Emily Ellis

Fr. / Sprint Freestyle

Granbury, Texas / Granbury HS

 

Ellis swam for head coach Jason Pullano at Granbury High School and received All-District, All-Region, and All-State honors for the Pirates. She was also a member of a relay team that won a State Championship.

 

Emily is the daughter of Lisa and Chris Ellis and has one sister, Anna. At Centenary, she is majoring in geology.

 

Madelyn Frederick

Fr. / Breaststroke

Slidell, La. / Slidell HS

 

Frederick swam for head coach Jimmie Jones at Slidell High School.

Madelyn is the daughter of Ronnie and Ralph Frederick and has two sisters, Gabrielle and Rebecca. At Centenary, she is majoring in biology and pre-medicine.

 

Margot Frost

Fr. / Butterfly and Backstroke

Baton Rouge International School

 

Frost is a defender for Ladies Soccer. Thus far this season, she has appeared in nine games. Prior to Centenary, she played for the Baton Rouge Soccer Club. Frost also is the 5x winner of Louisiana Writes French Writing Competition and was Runner-up in "Concours Marie Curie 2017" (French Writing Competition).

Frost is the daughter of Dan Frost and Annick Guilmot. At Centenary, she is majoring in business and French.

 

Brianna Serret

Fr. / IM and Backstroke

Alexandria, La. / Alexandria HS

 

Serret swam the 100 butterfly and breaststroke, as well as the 200 IM, for head coach Wally Fall at Alexandria Senior HS. She holds 7-of-13 school swimming records as of graduation from high school. Serret helped the Trojans finish runner-up at the State Meet in both 2014 and 2015. She won an individual state championship in the 100 butterfly in both 2014 and 2016. Serret graduated in the top five percent of her graduating class.

Brianna is the daughter of Patrick and Michelle Serret and has one sister, Brylee. At Centenary, she is majoring in biology.

 

Lindsay Strohm

Fr. / Distance Freestyle and Butterfly

McKinney, Texas / McKinney, Texas

 

Strohm swam long distance freestyle and butterfly for head coach Scotty Serio. She advanced to Regionals, was named the Hardest Worker, and was named MVP in 2016 for the Lions... Strohm also helped McKinney advance to regionals all four years of high school. She also swam for the Texas Ford Aquatic Club. Strohm was inducted into the National Honor Society and won the Rotary Academic Award.

Lindsay is the daughter of Lainey and Thomas Strohm and has one sister, Sydney. At Centenary, she is majoring in biology.

 

Kaylin Swoboda

Fr. / Breaststroke and Butterfly

New Orleans, La. / Mount Carmel Academy

 

Swoboda swam breaststroke and butterfly for head coach Chelsea Crowder at Mount Carmel Academy, winning All-State, All-District, and All-Metro honors for the Cubs. She has also been a part of a state championship with both her high school and club teams. Swoboda has been a member of the sectional team the past five years. This previous year, she qualified and participated for the national team. She was also was named Academic All-State and Fall Athlete of the Year at Mount Carmel.

Kaylin is the daughter of Ron Swoboda and Kristie Parent and has one sister, Caroline. At Centenary, she is majoring in pre-med and biology.

 

Iulia Tertilova

Fr. / Sprint Freestyle and Breaststroke

Tiraspol, Moldova / Tiraspol Humanitarian and Mathematical Gymnasium

 

In Moldova, she ballroom danced for six years.

Iulia is the daughter of Natalia and Olejo Tertilova. At Centenary, she is majoring in business and music.

 

Gents:

 

Daniel Lewis

Fr. / Breaststroke and Sprint Freestyle

Alexandria, La. / Alexandria Senior HS

 

Lewis swam freestyle and backstoke for head coaches Wally Fall and Jody Goodman at Alexandria Senior High School. He won the Louisiana Division 2 100 Freestyle at the State Meet his senior season.

Daniel is the son of Donald and Judy Lewis and has a sister, Lindsay, and a brother, Donald Jr. At Centenary, he is majoring in biology and chemistry.

 

Mitchell Lulich

Fr. / Breaststroke, IM, and Sprint Freestyle

New Orleans, La. / Jesuit HS

 

Lulich swam for head coach Brett Hanneman at Jesuit HS. He helped the Blue Jays win a championship in Division 1.

Mitchell is the son of Peggy and Michael Lulich and has one sister, Kelly, and one brother, Matthew. At Centenary, he is majoring in biology.

 

Tripp Montgomery

Fr. / Breaststroke and Sprint Freestyle

New Iberia, La. / New Iberia Senior HS

 

Montgomery swam for head coach Jessica Altenburg at New Iberia Senior high school. In 2017, he swam in both the 13 and over state meet and the Louisiana State long course meet, finishing 15th in the 200 breaststroke and 16th in the 100 breaststroke. For the Yellow Jackets, Montgomery made the 2017 5A All-District Swim Team after receiving qualifying times in both the 100 breaststroke and 200 IM for the LHSAA Division I State Meet. In 2018, he qualified in the breaststroke for the 2018 Speedo Championship Series Southern Zone Sectional Championships in Plantation, Florida. At the Louisiana State long course meet this past summer, Montgomery finished runner-up in the 200 IM and fifth in both the 100 and 200 meter breaststrokes.

Tripp is the son of Shawn and Misty Montgomery and has one sister, Ali. At Centenary, he is majoring in biology and geology.

 

Miguel Vasquez

Fr. / IM, Backstroke, and Butterfly

Lafayette, La. / Lafayette HS

 

Vasquez swam for head coach Thomas Clavier at Lafayette HS. He won All-State honors, won a State National Championship in the 50 and 100 freestyles, was an All Star, Named All-League, and is a national record holder and is also a Guatemala record holder. Vasquez won the Principal's Award and is a member of the National Honors Society. He is also a Centenary Nan Christian Scholarship recipient.

Miguel is the son of Axel and Donna Vasquez and has one sister, Isabela. At Centenary, he is majoring in geology and engineering.
