Ladies Gymnastics Records Second-Highest Team Score of Season, Takes Third at Temple

PHILADELPHIA – For the second-straight meet, the Ladies began the competition on beam. And for the second-straight meet, the Ladies gymnastic team set the tempo with a great rotation, breaking 48 on the apparatus for the third time in four meets as Centenary finished the Temple Tri Meet with a 191.500 – its second highest team score of the season. The host Owls won the meet with a 195.175, while William & Mary barely took second with a 191.525.

Centenary has now had a 190 score or better in sixth time in seven meets to improve its RQS to 190.685, its highest RQS in eight years.

Senior Navia Jordan won on beam, matching a career high with a 9.850. Junior Cami Bea Austin finished seventh with a season high of 9.725. The Ladies did not count a fall on the apparatus for the second straight meet, finishing with a 48.275 to beat William and Mary's 48.050.

Moving on to floor for the second rotation, the Ladies again bested the Tribe on the event, 47.975-47.900. Austin took second with a career high 9.825. Freshman Kendall Sanders and senior Elizabeth Sander finished 10th and 11th, respectively, with career highs of a 9.700 and 9.675.

On vault, Centenary finished with a 47.525. Austin finished the competition fourth on the event with a 9.775.

On bars, Centenary again bested William & Mary, 47.725-47.025. Freshman Xian Baumgartner received a career high 9.675, while senior Aspen Hattley tied a season high 9.500.

Ariana Castrence for Temple won the all-around (39.025) and on vault (9.850). Jazmyn Estrella (9.875) won on bars, while India Anderson took the floor title with a 9.875.

Centenary returns to action Friday night, March 15, for its final regular season meet at Missouri with Michigan and Minnesota. First rotation is set for 7 p.m.
