Hurley Captures SCAC Hitter of the Week
LAWRENCEVILLE Ga. - Senior Sydney Hurley of Ladies Softball has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week aftter being named Centenary Athlete of the Week on March 18. This past weekend, Centenary swept Austin College in its conference and home openers of the 2019 season.
LAWRENCEVILLE Ga. - Senior Sydney Hurley of Ladies Softball has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week aftter being named Centenary Athlete of the Week on March 18. This past weekend, Centenary swept Austin College in its conference and home openers of the 2019 season.
Hurley added a hit in all six games of the week, finishing the weekend with seven hits, nine RBIs, four runs scored, three doubles, and two home runs.
Hurley batted .568 for the week (10-for-17), including 7-for-11 (.636) in the Ladies four-game sweep of Austin College to begin SCAC play this weekend. She hit a pair of home runs, including a grand slam in the Ladies 16-2 (five innings) win against Austin College in the second game Saturday, March 16. After a solo home run in the Ladies 6-0 win in the first game Sunday, March 17, she went 3-for-3 in the second game with a pair of two-RBI doubles.
For the season, Hurley ranks second on the team with a .359 average.
Centenary returns to action next weekend, March 23-24, with a four-game set at Dallas. First pitch both days is set for noon.
