SHREVEPORT, La. – What a difference a week makes.

A week after surrendering a double-digit lead with a tough third quarter against Schreiner, the Ladies did the exact opposite to the Tigers as Centenary (7-15, 5-8 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) outscored the visitors by 11 in the third quarter en route to a 72-52 win against Colorado College (10-22, 7-7 SCAC) Friday night, February 8.

Trailing 22-21 in the second, Centenary scored five straight to take the lead for good. Senior Jasmine Morris made a layup and sophomore Darelzray Bellard called glass and banked a three.

Colorado College hit a triple to pull within two late in the second quarter, but senior Savanah Doty gave Centenary a big lift when she buried a triple to beat the halftime buzzer. Centenary led 38-33 at the break, thanks in part to shooting better than 71 percent (10-for-14) for the second quarter.

The Ladies led 45-38 halfway through the third before a 12-1 run pushed the lead to double-digits for good. Doty hit a three and Washington made a layup. Colorado College split from the line before Morris made a layup. Washington made a layup before sophomore Bre Frierson split from the line. Frierson than made a layup to push the lead to 18.

Centenary led by as much as 21 in the fourth quarter. Colorado College cut the deficit to 13, but the Ladies made 9-of-10 from the line to end the game and preserve the win.

Five reached double-figures for Centenary, led by Morris' 15. Washington finished with a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards. Doty added 13 with four blocks, four assists, and three steals.

The Ladies outrebounded Colorado College 48-42 and used a dominating 38-14 edge in points in the paint.

Colorado College looked as if they might take control early, jumping out to an six-point lead. Jade Odom and McKenzee Gertz buried threes around a layup by Washington. Casey Torbet added a layup to put the Tigers up six – their largest lead of the game.

Gertz paced Colorado College with a game-best 17 points.

Centenary looks to extend its win streak to three Saturday, February 9, when it hosts Johnson & Wales for Senior Day. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
