SHREVEPORT, La. – Centenary Soccer released their 2019 schedules Wednesday, May 29.
Both schedules feature 19 games, with the Ladies playing nine games and the Gents 10 at the newly-turfed Mayo Field on the campus of Centenary. Also, the 2019 slate will feature two games against St. Thomas in Texas, which gained membership in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference for the 2019-20 season.
It will also be the first year with Centenary in the SCAC that the schedule will not feature a true home-and-home schedule against every other conference member. The Ladies and Gents still face St. Thomas, Johnson & Wales, Austin College, and Dallas twice (with the Gents also facing Colorado College twice). Centenary plays Schreiner and Trinity on the road and Texas Lutheran and Southwestern at home once.
Both teams begin the 2019 campaign on the road. The Ladies play a pair of games in Jackson, Mississippi, August 30-31. They take on LaGrange at Millsaps on August 30 while playing at Belhaven August 31. The Gents travel to East Texas Baptist August 30.
The August 30 start for the Ladies and Gents is the earliest start to a season in five years. In fact, on August 30, 2014, the Gents won 5-3 at East Texas Baptist.
After another game for the Ladies in Jackson, Mississippi, against Millsaps September 4, both teams host LeTourneau for their home openers September 10. The Ladies play first at 5 p.m., while the Gents take on the YellowJackets at 7 p.m.
Both the Ladies and Gents begin conference play in Colorado. The Gents take on Colorado College on September 13, while both teams take on Johnson & Wales September 15. The Tigers and Wildcats make the return trip to Shreveport October 4 (Johnson & Wales) and 6 (Colorado College, Gents Only).
The Ladies and Gents take on St. Thomas for the first time ever in Houston September 20. The Celts make the return trip to Mayo Field October 18.
Centenary Soccer closes out September with a trio of home doubleheaders – Hendrix on the 24th for a brief reprieve from SCAC play before jumping back in to conference action with Austin College on the 27th and Dallas on the 29th. The Ladies and Gents make the return trip to the Dallas area in late October against Dallas (25th) and Austin College (27th).
After hosting the teams from Colorado to open up the month, the Ladies and Gents play at Schreiner and Trinity on October 11 and 13.
In non-conference action, the Ladies and Gents welcome Pelican State-rival Louisiana College October 21 before playing at Mississippi University for Women on October 29.
Centenary soccer closes out the regular season in early November at Mayo Field. The Ladies and Gents host senior night against Texas Lutheran Friday, November 1. The teams close out the regular season Sunday afternoon against Southwestern.
The 2019 SCAC Men's and Women's Soccer Tournament will both feature six teams and will be contested November 8-10. The women's tournament will be at Southwestern in Georgetown, Texas, while the men's tournament will be at Trinity in San Antonio.
