Late Goal Sinks Gents Soccer at Southwestern, 1-0

GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Gents surrendered a goal with a little more than a minute left as Centenary (1-6-1, 0-5-1 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) fell to Southwestern (6-1-1, 4-0-1 SCAC) 1-0 Friday night, September 21.

Sophomore Gin Pau, senior Scott Halper, sophomore Cameron Sineni, and freshman Cole Mrozek all managed a shot on target. Pau hit the crossbar with a shot in the 52nd minute, while the Gents put the Pirates under pressure in the 87th minute with shots on target by Mrozek and Halper that was saved, followed by Pau hitting the post.

Southwestern's Sacco Fernandez scored the only goal of the game in the 89th minute on an assist from Jake Swonke.

Gents freshman goalie Sami Borchalli finished with a pair of saves, while the Pirates' Sam Laude stopped four shots.

Centenary returns to action Sunday, September 23, when it takes on Texas Lutheran. Kickoff in Seguin, Texas, is set for noon.
