Ladies Golf Take Fifth, Gents Sixth, at SCAC Championships

BLANCO, Texas – The Ladies Golf Team took fifth, while the Gents sixth, at the 2019 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships that wrapped up Tuesday afternoon, April 23, at the par-72 Vaaler Creek Golf Club in Blanco Texas.

The Ladies completed their two rounds with an 835 (+259) total, 322 strokes better than conference newcomer Johnson & Wales. Southwestern easily won the championship with a 634 (+58) total, 46 strokes ahead of runner-up Trinity. On the men's side, Centenary carded its best round during the final day and finished with a 963 (+99) total, 80 strokes ahead of Johnson & Wales. Dallas won with an 886 (+22) total, four strokes ahead of Texas Lutheran and Southwestern.

Junior Reed Balcerowicz fired an even-par 72 for the round, the 10th lowest score of the day. He finished with a three-round total of 235 (+19) to finish tied for 22nd. Classmate Brodey Warner carded a 236 (+20) to finish 24th. Sophomore Harrison John finished with a 247 (+31) total to place 28th, while senior Edvard Granrud took 30th in his final collegiate tournament with a 250 (+34).

Junior Gabe Rodriguez rounded out the Gents participants with a 260 (+44) total to take 32nd.

For the Ladies, two golfers earned top-20 finishes. Junior Erin Rostro finished with a two-round total of 180 (+36) to take 15th. Senior Shannon Orlopp placed 20th with a 193 (+49) total. Freshman Abigail Hayes carded a 196 (+52) to come in 21st. Junior Kristyn Peacock shot a 266 (+122) to finish 25th.
