Gents Soccer Drops Heartbreaker on Road at Schreiner

KERRVILLE, Texas – Gents Soccer scored the equalizer just a few minutes after surrendering the contest's first goal in the second half, but the Mountaineers booted the game winner in the 90th minute as Centenary (1-4-1, 0-3-1 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) fell to Schreiner (2-3-1, 1-1-1 SCAC) 2-1 Friday afternoon, September 14.

After Schreiner scored the first goal of the game, the Gents leveled the contest just moments later. Senior Scott Halper intercepted a pass on the defensive end at top of the box and quickly reversed the field. He found sophomore Gin Pau at the top of the box on the offensive end. Pau spun around the defenders and found the back of the net in the upper 90 on the right side. The goal was Pau's team-leading fourth goal of the season.

Trey Brittenum scored both goals for the Mountaineers.

Pau led Centenary by putting all four shots taken on target while Schreiner's Brittenum took nine shots, putting seven on goal.

Freshman Sami Borchalli led Centenary in goal, allowing 12 saves on 14 shots faced. Brandon Anselmi tallied four saves on five shots faced.

Centenary returns to action Sunday, September 16, against Trinity. Kickoff in San Antonio is set for noon.
